Who Would Have Thought?

So much has changed since our last Contact issue! Covid-19 raised its ugly head and the world as we knew it changed abruptly. Thankfully we know someone who NEVER changes...our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Changes we’ve seen at OCS include:

Distance Learning: Our teachers had to learn very quickly how to prepare, shoot and produce lessons online. For a couple of our young whipper snappers this wasn’t difficult because they’ve been taught this in college, but for those of us who have been in the field a long time it has been very challenging. Please pray for our staff as they prepare their weekly online classes.

Standardized Testing: Another change is that we’ve had to cancel standardized testing for this year. This is particularly disappointing due to the fact we had changed testing companies and we were looking forward to giving the Iowa Assessment for the first time.

Historical Sites Tour: Our 7th/8th graders were not able to participate in their much awaited Washington D.C. trip. We had to cancel it due to the government shut downs. So sad for them after all the hard work they did fundraising.

Graduation: At the time of writing this article our Eighth grade graduation ceremony is canceled. We are in the process of developing a way to celebrate our students' success in a way that meets our current restrictions.

How can you pray for OCS?

● God’s choice of a new Administrator.

● Overall staffing for the 2020-2021 school year.

● Giving to the scholarship and or general fund.

● Wisdom and discernment for the scholarship committee in awarding scholarships for

the 2020-2021 school year.

● Physical, emotional and spiritual protection for each student and staff member.

● Parents that have been thrust into the roll of educators because of Covid-19.
