Happy New Year!
We’ve had some very exciting times at OCS. During the past few months many field trips have taken place. Kindergarten through Second Grade headed to various pumpkin patches and had a great time enjoying fall activities.
Second Grade went apple picking in Paradise and traveled to Rancho Esquon for another wonderful adventure.
Third and Fourth Grade took a great trip to the Bidwell Mansion as part of their California History studies.
Fifth grade traveled to San Francisco to visit the Exploratorium. They rode the Ferry across the bay and walked to the Museum. Once there, they participated in many super educational activities.
Sixth-Eighth Grade traveled to Redding to take part in a special DNA exhibit at “Turtle Bay” after extracting DNA from Strawberries in class and building DNA strands out of candy!
In class we...
Made Apple Sauce, in First grade.
Participated in STEM projects in Third and Fourth grade.
Extracted DNA from strawberries in Middle School Science classes
Solved “Who Dunnit?” Historical Crime Scenes in Middle School and much, much more through-out the fall.
As a school we raised over $1,000 in chapel offering to assist the recovery efforts of Samaritan's Purse for Hurricane Dorian.
In November and December again took on Samaritan Purse projects for Christmas Chapel offerings that totaled $1006.00! With that we were able to purchase:
16 Bee Hive Kits at $20 each thanks to our Kindergarten and First Graders.
29 Baby Chick Kits at $14 each thanks to our Second - Fifth Graders.
4 goats at $70 each thanks to our Sixth-Eighth Graders
We had fantastic Christmas programs from Preschool, Kindergarten and First-Sixth!
All in all it was a great fall and the beginning of the winter season.
As we look into this new year we are starting re-enrollment, establishing our school budget, praying for scholarship money, and seeking wisdom for the 2020-2021 school year. Please continue to keep OCS in your prayers! We depend on you to lift us up on a regular basis.
