Those “Lazy” Days of Summer

Even though the school has reduced office hours during the summer, there is still much happening on campus in preparation for the new school year that starts on August 14.

We had a record reenrollment in May and we are still enrolling new and returning students. As of mid-June we have118 students enrolled in K-8 and another 28 in preschool. What those numbers mean is that we are now looking for at least one more teacher and instructional aid to join our staff for the upcoming school year. Please keep praying that the Lord will continue to bless us with both students and staff. There is a list of staff positions available at the end of this article.

In May our Kindergarten class celebrated all the wonderful things they learned with a special “kindergarten graduation” attended by many friends and family members. It is always a delight to see what Mrs. Worthington will chooses as the special theme for the event. This year the children drew pictures of what they wanted to be when they grow up and then came to the graduation in a costume depicting their future ambition.

On May 24th we also said farewell to nine special 8th grade students as they leave the OCS nest and move on to high school next year. We celebrated their graduation in a lovely graduation program that filled the Sanctuary with friends and family. It is always a bittersweet but exciting evening for both students and staff.

We were very appreciative of PTPF for planning a birthday party-themed morning on the last day of school. “Field Day” has become an annual event for the whole school to wrap up the school year

Thank you so much for your continued prayers on our behalf.

Please pray for:

1. The staff to be refreshed and energized during their time off.

2. For strategic and effective planning.

3. For the Lord to fill any new positions that may occur between now and then.

4. For Miss Ward to recover fully from her knee replacement operation in June.

Become a “Lunch Buddy”

We have a number of students who receive financial aid through the generosity of scholarship donors. Because we are a private school and do not receive any government subsidies we cannot offer reduced price lunches for these students and others who would benefit by some assistance.

You can become a “Lunch Buddy” by purchasing hot lunch tickets that will be distributed to students who could most use them. A 5-lunch ticket is $20 and a 10-lunch ticket is $40. Lunch tickets can be purchased in the school office during normal school hours. This is yet another way you can be a blessing to our OCS students.
