And pray in the Sprit on All occasions, with All kinds of prayers & requests. With this in mind, be alert & Always keep praying for All of the Saints. Ephesians 6:18

Always Praying – Although this is my Bible verse (Sam’s) for 2019 & my heart’s desire & goal, I confess that I still fall far short. There seems to be more distractions, yet also plenty of opportunities have resulted through praying. Over the past few years of intensified prayer, I’m learning that it’s more than just requests & petitions, but more communing with my Lord. He’s teaching me that prayer is often just being with Him, being still, gazing upon Him & receiving from Him……and it’s heavenly. I’m really enjoying Him even more too. Wayne, a friend wrote, “if we don’t enjoy Him, it’s harder to follow Him.”

Always Compassionate - In February, Sam was in Sarajevo for the Europe Refugee Highway Partnership Roundtable. One of the many incredible blessings, were the many divine encounters, including finding 16 from Spain, there at that conference. About 10 years ago, I was the only Spain representative at these meetings. One result was starting the Spain Refugee Highway Partnership Network which now consists of about 30 workers. This refugee initiative is evangelical, to share God’s Gospel, not just some social compassion service. The refugee issue is controversial among many, but the mission field, i.e. refugees, has come to Spain & Europe. They desperately need Jesus & they tend to be more receptive to the Gospel than most around here.

Always Discipling - February was also invested in some of the hardest aspects of our discipleship ministry. Spain has had a historically high missions attrition rate. Many missionaries & nationals are weary, struggling & are hurting. We spent over 2 weeks of intensive ministry, opening our home & our lives to a dear brother whom Sam was coaching/mentoring. After only 6 months here, he has already departed Spain. A great challenge in missions, is that unresolved conflicts or sins seem to amplify, some say 10-15 times more in their new foreign culture. None of us have arrived & the Lord is always working to transform us to be like His Son, most often in our areas of pain, weaknesses, sins & past unresolved issues we often try to avoid or suppress. As painful as it was, this young worker made enormous advances in his spiritual journey & recovery. We enjoy devoting more time discipling, coaching & caring for Christian workers & young people, helping them take that next step out of their comfort zone in their spiritual journey.

Always Church Planting - I (Sam) just returned from Budapest, Hungary, privileged to participate in our ReachGlobal Europe Multiply gathering. The meetings affirmed a lot of what we are doing now – church planting through making disciples. This has always been our calling. An exciting project is collaborating in a church planting forum for young adults in April. Praise God, church planting is on the rise in Spain! Yet there are not a lot of younger church planters too. We know some young people we’ve been working with registered.

Please pray for:

  • Grace & unity for the Spain Refugee Highway Partnership network, to minister & see many displaced peoples come to Christ .

  • Deep heart-felt disciple making – intentionally equipping to do the deep, hard soul work, so they can eventually train up disciple making disciples.

  • Our dear brother, as he continues his recovery & restoration back home.

  • May the Lord raise up a young generation of Spanish church planters.

  • For the Lord of the harvest to send forth new workers to join our Madrid team.
