OCS Teacher Spotlight
Oroville Christian School has a wonderful staff of highly qualified and dedicated teachers. Not all of the church family has had occasion to meet the teachers personally, so the board would like to introduce one teacher in each newsletter in hopes you will feel more connected with the school and be able to pray wisely for the teachers.
This month we would like to introduce Jesamine Helenburg, who teaches 7th and 8th grade at Oroville Christian School. Mrs. Helenburg graduated from Bethel University in Minnesota where she majored in English/Literature and ESL for K-12 students. She and her husband Greg moved to Chico, where they currently live, almost 2 years ago when he took a position of youth pastor at the Chico Evangelical Free Church. This is Mrs. Helenburg’s second year of teaching here at OCS.
Mrs. Helenburg will be overseeing the Washington DC Historical Sites Tour in the spring of 2020. Last spring, during her first year at OCS, she accompanied a group of 7th and 8th grade students on the HST and saw the value the trip afforded students by helping them apply their study of American History that alternates every other year with World History.
When Mrs. Helenburg is not in the classroom inspiring her students to be the best they can be, she loves outdoor activities. Hiking, kayaking, and gardening are just a few of the activities she shares with her husband. She and her husband have also completed all of the preliminary steps for adoption and are waiting to be notified that they will soon be sharing the joys of parenthood also.
We are so happy to have Mrs. Helenburg on staff and we’re sure both she and her husband would covet your prayers for a successful rest of the school year, the upcoming adoption, and her husband’s ministry.
