“Ken and JoAn Warwick, God’s Servants”

December 1, 2017

Ken and JoAn Warwick have served as missionaries for 35 years within the EFC ReachGlobal ministries.  Their years of faithful commitment to God’s commandment within Matthew 28:18-20 have taken them to many parts of the World.  As a congregation, we have supported Ken and JoAn throughout their ministry and today they are the longest-term missionaries currently supported by Oroville EFC.

Recently, Ken was called upon to serve as the Associate Director of Personnel for EFC ReachGlobal.  In this role, his primary focus is on the preparation of new missionary staff.  The training model allows for online training so that the live, “face-to-face”, training events can be shortened, while on-going training continues for the first 4 to 5 years of a new missionary’s service.  Since Ken served as a missionary for more than three decades and has provided extensive online training development of missionaries, he has also been assigned to provide online training for EFC ReachGlobal team leaders, individuals involved in global mission partnerships and local church volunteers involved in outreach ministries.  In addition, Ken and JoAn are involved in a steady stream of “behind the scenes”, non-training related projects which support missionary teams throughout the World.

Ken and JoAn have requested prayer support for several areas of their ministry and personal life.  First, they seek God’s wisdom in knowing how to adapt the training model used by EFC ReachGlobal to address the changing needs of today’s new missionaries who enter a World which is different than the past, while maintaining a strong gospel-focused base.  Second, they have requested that we pray that the Lord of the Harvest would raise up a new generation of workers for the Lord’s work. There are a significant number of missionaries heading into retirement and there is a need for new missionaries to step into the positions being vacated by the retiring generation. Finally, Ken requests prayer for energy to serve his aging parents who reside in Red Bluff and maintain contact with their children and grandchildren who are in the Midwest.

God has placed Ken and JoAn Warwick where he needs their skills and their strength of character to fulfill the Great Commission to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20)  Let’s not forget them; instead, uphold them in daily prayer, knowing that God will sustain them, grant them His wisdom and abide with them as they face life’s challenges and the opportunities of ministry.
