Behold! The Light Has Come!

12 Now when he heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew into Galilee. 13 And leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum by the sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali, 14 so that what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: 15 “The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles—16 the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned.” 17 From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:12-17) As we begin the Advent Season, we recognize the need to see afresh and

Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family

This devotional is by Paul Tripp taken from his book “Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family”. Those who survived the fire in Paradise now have to start from scratch, most with literally nothing but the clothes on their backs. This makes me think of the Israelites as they hurriedly left Egypt. They had little time to gather what they could before beginning their trip into the desert to an unknown location. Following a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night they ventured into the unknown trusting that their final destination would be the land God promised, a lan

Honoring Our Missionaries During the Christmas Season

As the Christmas Season approaches, it is right and proper that the church recognize those individuals who serve the risen Christ on our behalf. Oroville Evangelical Free Church is blessed to have eleven missionaries/missionary families represent our congregation throughout the world as they share the Good News of the gospel. The Missions Committee has approved a special love gift for each of our supported missionaries and their families. However, it would be very nice for the missionaries to also hear from families in the church. Christmas can be a lonely time for many of our missionaries as they are away from family and friends. A short note of thankfulness for their Christian service
