Student Ministries

This school year has started off with a bang for our Student Ministries! What started as an experiment over the summer has led to some incredible growth. We knew that we needed to make some adjustments with the realignment of the middle schools in the area by including 6th graders. We decided to split our ministry into high school and junior high for the summer to see how they would respond. The results have been incredible and all glory be to God! We have had an incredible infusion of junior high students and the level of discipleship among the high schoolers has increased. Due to the success we experienced over the summer, we decided to continue with having our weekly bible study, Forge, b

The OCS Eagle

On the 18th of August, OCS held its first Pep Rally of the year. We learned a new cheer “Hey Eagles” . . . “Hey Eagles show your pride, raise your wings and flap them high, Go eagles, Go eagles!” As we yelled the cheer we also flapped our wings. It was quite a sight to see our students and many parents flapping their “wings” and having a great time. As the school’s Interim Administrator, I desire to instill a pride in our school. The Webster’s Dictionary defines pride as “a delight or satisfaction in one’s own or another’s achievements, in association” or “a person or thing in which pride is taken”. God’s Word has a great deal to say about being “delighted or having pride” in our associati

Ministry Appreciation Month

Bless her Heart… October is “Ministry Appreciation Month” giving opportunity to honor and show appreciation for those who serve in the ministry God has blessed our church here at EFC with a new pastor and wife and we are excited and so very grateful. By the time you read this article, we will have already introduced our Pastor’s wife, Carol, and gotten to know her a bit better at our “Ladies’ Night Out” event. As we contemplate how we might show our love and appreciation to our new Ministry couple this month and throughout the years to come, perhaps you would consider the following: Most importantly, pray for her. Take time to call or chat with her to learn of concerns and/or burdens on he

I write to you today from my apartment on the campus of Shandong Institute of Business and Technology in Yantai, China. About 20,000 Chinese students attend the university. All students are required to study English their Freshmen and Sophomore years; putting qualified English teachers in high demand. This semester I am teaching three units of Freshmen Speaking, and five units of Freshmen Writing. Living a Life of Obedience On the surface, it might look like I am just like any other teacher, preparing lessons, grading papers, and giving tests. This is all true; I am a teacher through and through. But if you were to dig a little deeper you would see there is a bit more to my job than just tea

The Pastor's Pen

As I drive back and forth from our short-term home in Richvale, I pass through acres and acres of rice fields. For weeks I have watched these rice plants grow and develop. I see them reflect the glow of the sunlight in the morning and watch the shadows fall upon them in the evening. These full fields hold promise of a fruitful crop, much to the delight of the farmers, for whom this time of year brings rejoicing. I also rejoice as I gaze at these fields because in them I see the grace of God displayed in the bounteous yields to come. Indeed, the harvest is ready. As we get to know the area, we are spending a lot of time in the car driving and learning the lay of the land. As we drive around t
