Purpose Statement for Women's Ministry
of Evangelical Church of Oroville
The purpose of Women's Ministry is to encourage and equip women to think Biblically and live covenantally. *
Women who are faithful to this calling will:
1. Live covenantally in their relationships with Christ, their families, their churches and their culture.
2. Exemplify woman's helper design and life-giving mission as God's Word describes in Genesis 1-3.
3. Develop women's ministries in our church that flow out of and support EFC's biblical, doctrinal standards and vision as directed by the elders.
4. Disciple women to fulfill the Lord's requirements spelled out in Micah 6:8: “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?”
5. Teach and leave an imprint on the next generation(s) the Biblical definition of womanhood as described in Titus 2:3-5: “Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips, nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, that the Word of God may not be dishonored.”
*Covenant life: a life lived within the body of a church as a solemn agreement between it's members that they will walk together according to the precepts of the gospel, in brotherly affection.
